Kaity Patchett

Executive Director of Capital crossroads

Kaity Patchett joined Horizon Group as the Executive Director of Capital Crossroads, bringing with her years of experience in strategic planning, communications, and community engagement. Her career reflects a strong track record of successful collaboration and organizational leadership along with her passion for making a positive impact through public service.

Kaity previously served two terms as District Director and Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Congresswoman Cindy Axne in Iowa’s Third Congressional District. In this role, she oversaw staff and operations across three constituent service offices and led coordinated constituent engagement programs in 16 counties. Her efforts helped the Office earn national recognition for accountability, transparency, and bipartisanship. Kaity also served as the Director of Public Relations, Public Affairs, and Events at LS2group where she specialized in strategic communications, media and crisis communications training, and team management. For seven years she executed successful campaigns for industry-leading clients across a ten-state region while mentoring multiple internal teams. She also worked in the Iowa House of Representatives as a Legislative Clerk and as a Marketing Assistant with Prefense, LLC, an Iowa-based startup company.

As Executive Director of Capital Crossroads, Kaity spearheads a regional collaboration of leaders from business, government, nonprofit, education, and social sectors working to address the current and future trends that will have the greatest impact on Central Iowa. Now in its third iteration, Capital Crossroads’ work is driven by a bold, regional vision plan: Central Iowa’s Roadmap to Opportunity and Prosperity for All. The Roadmap is designed to foster inclusive economic growth, community vitality, and enhance quality of life across the region. Kaity’s experience in business and government positions her well to build on Capital Crossroads’ previous success and work alongside community leaders to create change.

Kaity lives in Des Moines with her significant other, Chris, and their sweet rescue dog, Aoife. Outside of work, Kaity can be found spending quality time with her loved ones, reading, occasionally attempting to cook, and enjoying the outdoors.
